The Engineering Behind the X-ZYTE M1
The X-ZYTE M1 is a centre-shafted mallet putter developed to provide exceptional stability, consistent alignment, and a natural putting feel. Its face-balanced architecture promotes confidence throughout the stroke, whether you use a Straight Back Straight Through stroke or a natural arcing stroke.
Rather than asking the golfer to adapt to the putter, the M1 has been engineered to provide a stable, repeatable platform that complements a wide range of putting styles.
Centre-shaft architecture
The defining feature of the M1 is its centre-shafted design. Unlike traditional heel-shafted putters, the shaft sits on the centreline of the head, allowing weight to be distributed symmetrically around the shaft axis. This produces exceptional face balance and contributes to the stable feel that characterises the M1 throughout the stroke.
Engineering insight: a symmetrical mass distribution around the shaft axis helps minimise unwanted face rotation during the putting stroke.
Why golfers like it – face balance
One of the simplest demonstrations of the M1’s engineering can be seen by balancing the shaft on a finger, the putter naturally rests with the face pointing upwards. This is known as face balance, and it indicates that the centre of gravity has been carefully positioned relative to the shaft axis. While face balance alone doesn’t guarantee a better stroke, it provides a stable platform that many golfers find promotes greater consistency and confidence, whether their stroke is Straight Back Straight Through or a natural arc.
Precision steel core
Within the ASA body sits a precision steel core. Rather than simply adding mass, the core is carefully positioned to optimise the putter’s centre of gravity and overall balance. Combining two materials with complementary properties gives the M1 a unique mix of stability, feel and durability.
Engineering insight: the steel core isn’t there simply to add weight, it’s positioned to optimise balance while the polymer body controls vibration and feel.
Hybrid construction, engineering-grade ASA
The body of the putter is manufactured from solid ASA, Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate, a high-performance engineering thermoplastic developed for demanding outdoor use. It combines excellent mechanical strength with outstanding resistance to UV radiation, weathering and moisture, ideal for a product that needs long-term dimensional stability.
ASA was chosen for its excellent dimensional stability, high impact resistance, outstanding UV and weather resistance, consistent vibration characteristics, and long-term durability. It also allows complex geometries to be produced with exceptional accuracy using additive manufacturing.
Hand assembly
Although manufactured using advanced technology, every X-ZYTE M1 is assembled by hand. The steel core, alignment components and weight adjustment system are individually fitted before final assembly, with each component carefully bonded using a structural polymer adhesive. This combination of precision manufacturing and skilled hand assembly ensures every putter gets the attention to detail expected of a premium product.
Weight distribution
The relationship between total weight and weight distribution has a profound influence on putting performance. Rather than simply increasing head weight, the M1 is developed around carefully controlled mass distribution. Both the 340g and 360g versions maintain the same centre of gravity philosophy and identical playing characteristics, so you can choose the weight that best suits your preference.

Every M1 shares the same fundamental engineering, centre-shaft architecture, face-balanced design, precision steel core, solid ASA body, 3 degree loft, 76 degree lie angle, and 2 degree forward shaft lean.
